There was a jobs boost for the economy today with the news that a new retail brand will open around 20 stores in Ireland, promising to create 200 jobs over the next three years.

Danish fashion brand only will open four stores initially, with plans for a flagship store on Grafton Street and another in Kilkenny that will open on December 6th.

Other outlets are planned for Limerick and Cork before March 13th, with further growth targeted after that.

“The expansion of Only into the Irish market is a great move for us as a bran,” Thomas Lauritzen, Only’s head of strategy and business said. “Only will be creating a significant number of jobs in the retail sector over the next three years.”

Separately, pharmacy chain DocMorris opened its first pharmacy in Ballyfermot, creating 10 jobs.

Boots Ireland and Heatons also said they would create around 650 full and part-time temporary positions at stores in the run-up to Christmas.

Boots Ireland will add 400 seasonal workers to cope with expected demand, while Heatons will add 250 jobs at its 52 stores in anticipation of a busier Christmas period.
