Dixons Carphone Ireland enjoyed record growth of more than 12 per cent in sales over the Christmas and New Year period.
The company, which incorporates Currys PC World and Carphone Warehouse, said sales "massively exceeded our expectations".
Currys PC World performed “exceptionally well” with increased market share in all categories including television, computing and white goods.
The company also saw online revenues jump 57 per cent on Black Friday compared with the year before.
The company brought Currys PC World and Carphone Warehouse into one store, with “buoyant sales” across the network nationwide and an estimated 7 per cent increase in visits year on year.
"We expected a strong uplift but this sales period massively exceeded our expectations," said managing director Mark Delaney.
“Irish consumer confidence continues to grow and as the largest electronic retailer in Ireland, our investments in more choice and innovation through more product choice and exciting product launches are paying dividends,” he said.
“Sales have been boosted by the growing number of mobile shoppers with smart phone devices accounting for over half of all visits to our website for the first time.
“Our store network has seen considerably increased footfall over 2016 as consumers seek the best combination of choice and quality. As a result, both Currys PC World, and Carphone Warehouse continue to grow sales and market share in the Irish market.”
