Tesco Ireland is to create 65 new jobs at its new Park Pointe store in Dún Laoghaire.
The new outlet, which will employ 82 people in total when fully operational, is Tesco’s 146th Irish store.
Today’s announcement brings the total number of new jobs Tesco will create this year to 250
The retailer employs some 15,000 people nationally and about 2,300 in south Dublin.
Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore welcomed the opening of the new store and its boost to the local economy. “Tesco is an excellent employer, and with more than half of new staff in Park Pointe coming from the live register they have set an impressive example for other companies to follow.”
Tesco Ireland chief executive Phil Clarke, said: “At Tesco, we work hard to ensure that our stores play a big part in local communities and we are delighted that of the 65 new roles at Tesco Park Pointe, 45 went to those who were out of work.
“ Our new store will feature the best in Irish produce as well as a brand new “market” style layout designed to provide an enhanced shopping experience for customers.”
