The Revenue Commissioners sent one last shot across the bows of bogus non-residence account holders yesterday telling them to get their tax affairs in order or else. Using the carrot-and-stick-approach Revenue chairman Mr Dermot Quigley warned there would be no benefits, no excuse and no escape for those foolish enough not to disclose and pay by the November 15th deadline.
But he promised those who did declare their bogus accounts that interest and penalties would be capped at 100 per cent of the tax due and there would be no public exposure and no investigation for prosecution.
