Oil prices jumped yesterday after the world's number two oil exporter Russia said it would consider making deeper cuts in output from January, raising hopes for a deal with OPEC on supply curbs. Norway also lifted prices by saying it wanted talks with Russia and hoped Moscow would take more steps to support the price.

Benchmark Brent Blend crude oil futures for January ended 61 cents higher at $18.97 (€21.52) a barrel.
