Foreign ministers will gather in Dublin this week for the 19th meeting of the OSCE ministerial council, which takes place in the RDS this Thursday and Friday.

The 57 participating ministers will review and assess the organisation’s activities during the past year and offer national viewpoints on security matters. The event is expected to attract more than 1,000 delegates. Earlier this year, Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore said the ministerial council meeting would generate about €2 million for the economy.

Mongolia this month became the 57th participating state, and is expected to take up its new position at the council meeting in Dublin on Thursday.

In 1973 Ireland was a founding member of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe, which became the OSCE in 1994.
