German shares advanced slightly in late electronic trade to end the day stronger, after gains of over half a percentage point on Wall Street and a slightly firmer dollar lifted late German share trade.
The IBIS DAX index, which measures electronic trade in 30 blue chip German companies, ended the day at 2488.82 points, up 20.50 points.

French shares took their lead from Wall Street to close higher.
The Paris market staged a technical recovery in the morning when the July CAC-40 future found support at 1,971 after sliding 2 per cent last week and hitting its lowest level since March on Monday. Investors were cautious ahead of Federal Reserve chairman, Mr Alan Greenspan's testimony in front of the House Banking Committee and tomorrow's Bundesbank council meeting.
