THE London Independent had a big ad in its sport section this week for what it somewhat pompously described as "The Intelligent Fantasy Football Game". Seemed to be just another fantasy football game, but then The Margin does not claim to be expert in these things.
But the Indie's intelligent fantasy football game, for some inexplicable reason, still listed Alan Shearer as playing for Blackburn - two days after Shearer jumped ship to Kevin Keegan's Newcastle. And to make it worse, the intelligent fantasy football game put a value of just £11.1 million on Shearer
Our Kev, no doubt, wishes he was able to get Shearer for that price, rather than the £15 million cheque he had to persuade Sir John Hall to write to bring Shearer back to Geordieland.
