Smartforce, the Irish e-learning company, has formed a strategic partnership with and has made a small equity investment in Docent, an e-learning and knowledge exchange company.

The partnership will see Smartforce incorporating Docent's learning management capabilities, including the ability to track and manage the competencies of a business's workforce, and to target solutions to fill these gaps into its software.

Smartforce said the partnership was an important part of the company's aim of offering a comprehensive e-learning infrastructure to companies, including content, a management platform and a wide range of tools to create and implement learning strategies.
