SMURFIT Group has appointed its first female vice-president. Ms Helen O'Brien (right) has been appointed vice-president, corporate events.

She will be responsible for the management of all the group's conferences, events, sponsorships and internal communications. Until recently, Ms O'Brien was conference and events co-ordinator for the group.
