A COMPUTER software director, Mr Barry Breslin, was yesterday granted High Court injunctions against two business associates who he claimed had taken computers and equipment from his company so that he could no longer operate.
Mr Breslin, of Newbridge Avenue, Sandymount, Dublin, was granted the injunctions against Mr George Hell is, Dunluce Road, Clontarf, Dublin, and Mr Colman Reilly, Lower Leeson Street, Dublin.
One injunction directs the defendants to immediately desist from using all telecommunications connections through France Telecom and Global 1 which were not for the exclusive use of a company called Internet Interaction Ltd.
The second injunction directs the defendants not to access any computer user accounts and web sites being hosted on Internet Interaction Ltd's site. Miss Justice Laffoy gave them short service for Monday. In an affidavit, Mr Breslin said he first met Mr George Hellis in January last. They had a number of discussions and both of them agreed to share communications lines provided by France Telecom to access the Internet.
It became clear they had a similar business objective of exploiting the business opportunities provided by the Internet.
At that time Mr Hellis had a company known as Internet Events Ltd, Gardiner House, Gardiner Street, Dublin. During the discussions it became clear that he required finance to continue to operate his company, and he sought finance from him. They agreed they would establish a separate company.
The current dispute arose over differences which emerged during a review of the draft business plan of the company. The company in effect had been shut down by the subsequent acts of the defendants, the affidavit said.
