EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, Mr Pedro Solbes, source of Charlie McCreevy's recent woes, addresses a major conference on the euro in Loughrea, Co Galway, today. Entitled "Assess, Plan and Prepare Now" the seminar is part of the Forfas EMU business awareness campaign and marks the start of final preparations for changeover to the euro.

The Tanaiste, Ms Harney, is joined by Minister of State for Technology and Commerce, Mr Noel Treacy, and Mr Lochlann Quinn, deputy chairman of Glen Dimplex and chairman of AIB among others.

Baltimore oozes confidence: In a week when results are due from Jefferson Smurfit Group, AIB Group and Golden Vale, Fran Rooney, president and chief executive of Baltimore Technologies, oozes confidence. He has predicted that on Wednesday his online security software firm could show a revenue rise of up to 45 per cent on the previous quarter.
