Some 400 jobs are to be created in the Dublin suburb of Tallaght due to an £8 million expansion programme announced by the Square Shopping Centre.

Two major stores and up to 12 smaller units are expected to locate in the 55,000 sq ft extension. Plans also include a six deck car park with capacity for up to 1,000 cars.

It is envisaged that up to 300 will be employed on the construction, with a further 100 full time jobs being created in the new retail outlets.

The expansion programme, due to start before the end of the month, is expected to be completed by October. The development contract has been awarded to the Sisk Building Company.
