Supervalu, the Irish supermarket group serviced by Musgrave SuperValu-Centra, will top £1 billion (€1.27 billion) in annual turnover this year for the first time. This represents a 17 per cent increase over last year, the chief executive of SuperValu, Mr Eoin McGettigan said yesterday. Speaking at the SuperValu Quality Awards in Dublin, he said: "SuperValu supermarkets everywhere are thriving. Year-to-date retail turnover is up 17 per cent and turnover will be in the region of £1.05 billion." He added that 70 per cent of all SuperValu products, worth some £700 million annually, are sourced in Ireland.
SuperValu currently has 208 independently owned stores serviced by Musgrave SuperValu-Centra, Ireland's largest food and grocery distributor.
