Goodbye talk and chalk, welcome cyberspace. That was the message from a delegation of Irish business studies teachers when they attended an education conference in Sweden at the end of last month.

Members of the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland (BSTAI) attended the 12th European Conference on Economics and Business Education in order to spread the news about the Irish Times Business 2000 project.

In their presentation, the delegates told the conference in that the Business 2000 project, a business teaching aid combining CD ROM and Internet technology, had brought a new dimension to the way business was taught in the classroom.

"The Business 2000 pack had to be extremely relevant, useful and innovative in order the gain the attention of teachers and pupils alike," they said.

A review of the first year of the project a survey had revealed widespread support for Business 2000 that is produced by Dublin-based company Woodgrange Consultants. "Teachers felt it was a very innovative way to meet the needs of the students and teachers and the multi-media aspect was appealing," the conference was told.

Attending the conference were BSTAI members Ms Eileen Kelly, Ms Rose Mary Lynch and Mr Frank McKenna. Also in attendance was Mr Jim Salisbury of Woodgrange Consultants.
