Computer screens used by Irish Times journalists are on their way to Africa.
Charity Camara Education yesterday collected 90 flat-screen monitors donated by The Irish Times Ltd.
With a mission to enhance education by using unwanted computer equipment, the social enterprise has provided digital literacy skills to 500,000 children from disadvantaged communities in Ireland, Africa and Jamaica.
Liam Kavanagh, managing director of The Irish Times Ltd, said the donation came about as a result of investment in IT systems at the paper.
"These changes support the relaunch of our irishtimes.comwebsite in early 2013 with a new content management system," he said.
