DUBLIN-BASED software company Profitero has been named as the IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year and winner of its SmartCamp competition for start-up companies.
Profitero has developed an online system to allow retailers to analyse prices offered by their competitors.
The software company won the London heat of the IBM event last November and executives travelled to San Francisco this week for the global final.
Having triumphed in the competition, Profitero will receive a range of supports and mentoring from the global technology giant.
“We are looking forward to working with IBM and its network of technical experts, business partners, venture capitalists, academics and clients to capture our share of the smarter commerce opportunity,” said Volodymyr Pigrukh, chief executive officer and co-founder of Profitero.
Mr Pigrukh worked with Google in Dublin, while his Belarusian co-founder Dmitry Vysotski originally came to Ireland on summer trips organised by the Chernobyl Children’s Appeal.
