Microsoft has announced the availability of its Surface RT tablet in Ireland, with the tablet going on sale from next month.

Microsoft has announced the availability of its Surface RT tablet in Ireland, with the tablet going on sale from next month.

The tablet has already been on sale in the US since October last year.

The SurfaceRT is powered by an ARM chip and can run apps downloaded through Microsoft’s Windows Store but does not support desktop applications. It comes with a full-size USB port and a micro SD card slot, plays HD video and runs on Windows 8.

It goes on sale in Ireland and 12 other European markets from February 14th.

The tablet will be available in 32gb and 64gb, costing €479 and €579 respectively. A keyboard case for the device will be available for an additional €100.
