Although I was one of those kids who enjoyed working out maths problems, I also had a short attention span; once I'd figured out the first one I didn't want to have to repeat similar problems ad nauseam until the entire batch was done. I would've loved PhotoMath, a smartphone app that snaps a pic of an equation and provides the answer in real time (along with a clear breakdown of how it was worked out). It supports arithmetic expressions, fractions and decimals, powers and roots, and simple linear equations. I wouldn't advocate using it as a replacement for understanding maths, though – where's the fun in that?
