Harman Titan Pinhole Camera

€209

Digital cameras may be the norm these days, but there is also a market for something a little simpler: the pinhole camera.

Tapping into the trend for retro photography, pinhole cameras provide moody atmospheric shots. The Harman Titan pinhole camera is effectively a light-proof box with a single small aperture and no lens or other fancy accessories. It is made from injection-moulded plastic with stainless steel fittings, so it can take a bit of rough treatment and inclement weather.

All you need is some photographic film or paper and a 4x5 film holder. The kit includes tripod mount positions and an interchangeable 72mm wide-angle pinhole cone.

Medisana TargetScale

€157

Another of the “smart” scales to hit the market, the TargetScale doesn’t just measure your weight – it also monitors everything from body mass index and body fat to muscle and bone mass.

It even runs a balance test to determine the distribution of body weight on each foot.

You can set your goal weight and the scale will then show you how your weight is increasing or decreasing through some glowing rings on the scales. It also works with iOS devices and a free app monitors your weight changes and sets goals from your mobile device.

Flashier than your average bathroom accessories.

HTC

One X

From free on contract

The One series of phones is HTC’s latest attempt to knock Samsung off its perch. The flagship model is the One X, a quad-core handset running the Icecream Sandwich flavour of Android with a 4.7-inch high-def display. The 8-megapixel rear-facing camera is impressive, with a F2.0 aperture and 28mm lens, and a burst shot mode for capturing fast-moving action.

While you’re shooting high- definition video, you can take still shots at the same time. The One X performs well in low light conditions. You can wirelessly stream multimedia content to a DLNA-compatible TV. HTC has managed to fit all this into a slim handset that is only 8.9mm thick.
