Vaoi Series 11

€499

Sony has added to its Vaio range, with a new device that aims itself at the student market, or those who want to access their social networks on the go. Part of the E series, the 11-inch device has a bit of power under the hood. It comes with the AMD Dual-Core E2-Series APU for notebooks, with AMD Radeon HD 7340 Graphics. The sound is boosted by Sony’s xLOUD and Clear Phase technologies, and there is an Exmor-powered HD web camera built in. On the connections side of things, the E series sports USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0 and HDMI out. And it will even charge your smartphone when it’s turned off.

Polaroid Z2300

$160

Polaroid made a business out of instant prints, and even with the shift to digital, it’s still not willing to concede defeat. The Z2300 is a digital camera with a built-in printer so you can point, shoot and share your prints instantly. The camera is 10 megapixel, which will stack up against many of the compacts available out there. And the printer is zero ink, which means all the colour is embedded in special paper, thanks to some fancy chemistry. No mess, no fuss – just prints in under a minute.

The Chinese mobile phone makers made a big splash at this year’s Mobile World Congress, including Huawei. The firm has just announced its Ascend G 300 will go on sale with Vodafone Ireland, and it’s definitely worth a look. The Gingerbread phone comes with a 4-inch touch screen, a 5-megapixel camera and a big battery to make sure you don’t run out of power at a crucial moment. It will be upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich later in the summer, so you don’t miss out on the latest version of Google’s software.
