Twitter is continuing to develop its Irish office, with the creation of 12 new jobs focused on its European sales operation.

The company currently has a small number of staff at its Dublin-based international office, the third location it has opened outside the US.

The social network, which has 140 million registered users, is seeking to recruit sales executives, IT and support staff as it expands its advertising products for small businesses into new territories.

Twitter first launched its “promoted products”, which includes promoted tweets and trends, two years ago in selected markets, and now plans to roll them out to the Netherlands and Spain to meet advertiser demands.

The Dublin office is in the city centre, although its precise location has not yet been disclosed. It is being headed up by former Google executive Stephen McIntyre, director of online sales and operations.

Among the jobs on offer at the Irish office are account executives for Britain and Ireland, Spain and the Netherlands, a role for an IT administrator and spam support positions.

The social network, which was founded by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Evan Williams and Biz Stone, recently celebrated its sixth birthday.
