House-hunters will be able to view potential purchases via 360 degree virtual tours in a new mobile device-based initiative.

The virtual tours are being introduced by KBC Bank in partnership with MyHome.ie, reducing the need to actually visit properties for a first inspection.

A pilot scheme, announced on Thursday, will focus on a range of about 20 Dublin properties from starter to larger family homes.

The virtual walk-throughs will be accessible via mobile phones, laptop or desktop computers.

"This initiative is perfect for house hunters who want the convenience of viewing a house on the market before they see it and especially those who can't attend a viewing because of work or family commitments," said Caroline Donnellan, head of marketing communications at KBC Bank Ireland.

Several homes brought to market by estate agents DNG, can be viewed through KBC's YouTube channel and the MyHome.ie mobile site.
