The PDF app GoodReader has been around for several years, but now is the chance to snap it up at the App Store for 99 cent. Its popularity is down to how well it handles PDFs – it loads huge files fast and has lots of editing options (highlighting, annotating, and so on), which makes it ideal for students.
GoodReader can also open Word documents, Zip files, images, video and ebooks, but the real beauty is in file transfer. As well as syncing with Dropbox and most other cloud services, this app can fetch from FTP or SFTP servers and enables you to grab files from your desktop or laptop over a secure wifi network. One of the best features is the option to use a saved digital signature that is only accessible with Apple’s Touch ID and is stored in an encrypted form.
