Led by Swiss nuclear physics research centre CERN, more than 70 partners from 27 countries will participate, with TCD the Irish partner.

More than 160 researchers are involved in the first two years of the project.

The grid will easily be able to crunch through petabytes of data (a petabyte is 10 to the 15th power of bytes).
