Food group Total Produce has brought UK-based exotic fruit importer Utopia from its administrator.
The fruit, vegetable and flower distributor, which was spun out from Fyffes in 2006, said the new business would be named Total Exotics.
Utopia is an importer and supplier of 60 exotic and tropical products from 40 countries, including mangos, pineapples, limes, figs, cherries and papayas, to supermarkets in Britain. It will add sales in excess of £25 million (€27.5 million) to Total Produce’s turnover.
Analysts from stockbroking firm Bloxham said the deal underlined the Irish company’s “ambition to broaden its product range”.
