The number of overseas visitors to Ireland has jumped to nearly a million in the first three months of this year, representing a 15 per cent increase on the same period last year, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office.

Around 998,000 people had visited Ireland by March, spending an estimated £468 million (€594.23 million), compared with 867,000 people in the same period last year.
