Danish court says unions can take industrial action against Ryanair

Denmark's labour court has ruled that the country's trade unions can take industrial action against Irish airline, Ryanair.

Following an action brought by the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions, the court ruled on Tuesday that the organisation’s members could engage in industrial action against the airline.

Ryanair immediately pledged to appeal the finding, which it said appeared to allow trade union members working for rival airlines to blockade the one craft it has based at Copenhagen Airport.

A spokesman said that it would continue to operate 12 routes to and from Copenhagen, but on aircraft based outside Denmark.

Danish unions are objecting to the fact that crew on Ryanair aircraft are employed under Irish law.
