Emirates is to add a second daily service between Dublin and Dubai from September, the airline confirmed today.
The new service will add capacity of more than 5,000 seats each week in both directions on the route, and will allow more effective onward connections from Dubai to major destinations in Australia and New Zealand.
The overnight flight will also introduce new connections to the Far East, India, East and Southern Africa.
“Air travel is indispensable for tourism and trade, the major engines of Ireland’s resurgent economy,” said airline president Tim Clark.
“ There is a clear traffic flow taking place from Dublin to a number of destinations in our network, therefore boosting connections makes business sense.”
Taoiseach Enda Kenny welcomed the news, saying it would be valuable to help build on the connections made during the Government’s recent trade mission to the Gulf region, and support export trade.
