Intercontinental in midst of revamp gives carpets to charity

Tiglin addiction treatment centre in Wicklow benefits as hotel replaces high-end flooring

The Intercontinental Hotel, formerly the Four Seasons, in Ballsbridge, has come up with a novel way of reducing wastage from the €5 million makeover of the property.

It recently completed phase one of the revamp, which involved redecorating the events and meeting spaces. The €30,000 carpets on these rooms, which probably bore the impression of many a Manolo Blahnik in the hotel, were “nearly new”, the Intercontinental said. It has decided to donate them to the Tiglin addiction treatment centre in Wicklow. Here’s hoping they have leftovers if they renovate the spa.
