TV3, the Republic's fourth broadcast television station, which is due to go on air in September, last night unveiled its corporate logo as well as some staff and schedule details.

The station's chairman, Mr James Morris, said TV3 would provide high-quality and imaginative programming. Its tone would be "down to earth, direct and not too serious", he said.

The station would be an Irish network with an Irish relevance, said its chief executive, Mr Rick Hetherington.

It would provide viewers with "an evolutionary not revolutionary" schedule of around 100 hours a week, he said. The station also announced several appointments. They include: Mr Michael Murphy as director of programming; Mr Peter Ennis as director of operations; Mr Ken Scott as chief financial officer; Ms Jemma Kilonback as creative director; Mr David Salzmann as group sales manager; and Mr Andrew Hanlon as director of news and information services.
