Two Irish computer scientists from University College Dublin have won the best application paper award at the 19th International Conference on Knowledge-Based Systems and Applied Artificial Intelligence (ES'99) held in Cambridge.

Dr Barry Smyth and Mr Paul Cotter co-authored the winning paper describing an Internet service called PTV (www.ptv.ie), a personalised TV listings site that was also recently a finalist at this year's Golden Spider Internet awards.
