The US Navy violated its own policy and most likely broke federal wiretap laws when it discharged a sailor for homosexuality based on information from an online service, a federal judge has ruled.

US District Judge Stanley Sporkin in Washington issued an injunction ordering the Navy to retain Senior Chief Petty Officer Timothy R. McVeigh, who was set to be discharged because he anonymously described himself as gay in his America Online profile. - (New York Times Service)
