Stocks managed a modest rally yesterday as investors took a break from fretting over dwindling profits and scooped up choice technology shares.
The Nasdaq rose 67.27 points to end at 3,523.10, based on the latest available figures. The tech-dominated Nasdaq staged a late-day rally after spending most of the day swinging in and out of positive territory.
The blue-chip Dow average advanced 64.74 to 10,784.48 with the help of Intel, up $1-11/16 to $42, and computer makers International Business Machines and Hewlett-Packard. IBM rose $4-1/16 to $114-5/8, while H-P climbed $2 to $95-1/2.
