Waterford United is proving highly popular with investors, with the club reporting a huge level of interest in its share issue even from places as far away as Australia and Boston.

The club is offering one million shares at £1 each in a bid to raise funds to spend on new players and to improve its facilities at the Regional Sports Centre.

Club chairman, Mr Michael Finnegan said the level of interest so far has been encouraging with the club almost half way to its minimum target of £250,000 and hopeful it will be able to exceed it.

The Blues' financial supporters so far range from a five-month-old child to an ardent octogenarian fan with a few corporate investors also weighing in behind the club.
