Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) is a technology standard for broadcasting digital radio. It is less susceptible to interference than FM, can provide more channels in the same amount of radio spectrum and provides more flexibility to broadcasters. The UK, Denmark, Norway and Switzerland are the leading users of DAB.
It also allows information about the current broadcast, such as the name of the artist and song being played, to be embedded in the signal and displayed. DAB devices automatically display all available stations and provide a list of them on-screen.
DAB also offers advantages to broadcasters, such as the ability to broadcast more content at a lower cost.
