Der Vombles den Munchen may be the next anthem of the German international soccer team. Only joking, but the Margin was amused to notice that one Mike Batt has been recruited by the German team manager Berti Vogts to pen a new anthem for the team.

Batt's main claim to fame is that he wrote those all-time classics Wombling Free and Remember You're a Womble back in the 1970s. Batt, not surprisngly, expressed some surprise at been chosen to write the new anthem.
