The world’s trading nations are succumbing to protectionism in the wake of the global financial crisis, limiting exports of food and raw materials and installing new import barriers, the World Trade Organisation warned yesterday.

Commodities export restrictions are “not without hazards”, it said in a report to be published this month.

The rising protectionist trend contradicts promises by the leaders of the world’s leading economies to resist protectionism. – (Reuters)
