THE board of Bord na Mona and I welcome the fact that Dr Eddie O'Connor will now attend the board meeting fixed for Monday 24th June, having previously indicated that he would be unable to attend. The purpose of this further meeting is to consider the remuneration, expenses and benefits paid to Dr O'Connor as disclosed to the board on Wednesday last.
The interest of Bord na Mona, its employees and the taxpayer will be best served by the resolution of this issue at the earliest possible date.
In relation to the Price Waterhouse report, I must categorically state that I fully endorse the credentials of those who compiled it and their findings I have at no stage been critical of it but merely tried to correct and clarify misleading and inaccurate interpretations of its findings.
At all times the board has sought to deal in a fair and reasonable manner.
REGARDING controversy and innuendo in the media on the question of leaks in the Bord na Mona affair, Mr Dineen wishes to reiterate what he has told to Dr Eddie O'Connor personally, and in writing, to Dr O Connor's solicitors, that neither he nor anyone with his authority was the source of any leaks of the documents referred to.
