The Margin has had reason of late to be monitoring the local paper on the Cayman Islands, the Caymanian Compass - the reason being the court case in the Caribbean involving the Irish High Court inspectors. On the day the case opened there was no mention of the islands' link with the Republic, although there was a large photograph of the irrepressible Mr John O'Shea, pictured in the Cayman Islands receiving a large cheque from the local chapter of Goal.
A few days later the newspaper did carry a piece about the case, on the front page, explaining what was happening and why it was of such interest in the Republic. The people who had money in the Ansbacher deposits, the paper explained, included the former prime minister, Mr Charles Haughey, and "Fianna Fail chief Mr Denis Foley". Maybe someone should tell Bertie Ahern.
