Win a Flaggy Shore oyster experience and lunch in Linnane’s Lobster Bar, Co Clare.

To celebrate the start of official oyster season this month, one lucky Irish Times subscirber and a friend will be treated to a road trip west to enjoy the Flaggy Shore Oyster experience followed by lunch in Linnane’s Lobster Bar, located next door on the scenic New Quay Pier in Co. Clare.

Now that there’s an ‘r’ in the month and already a little ‘brrr’ in the air, it’s time for all things oyster. September has always been seen as the official start of oyster season, as it’s when one of our very finest foods really starts to shine. And there’s no better place to immerse yourself in one of our most enduring traditions and treasures, and the ongoing pleasure given by those little heroes in a half shell, than with the Flaggy Shore Oyster Experience at New Quay Pier in the Burren. Tucked in along the Wild Atlantic Way, between Galway and the Cliffs of Moher, this is a 90-minute tour that is a dreamy day out for oyster lovers.

A hands-on tour, you’ll discover the rich history of the Flaggy Shore’s oyster bays and learn about the life cycle of oysters, before diving into the art of oyster shucking, all led by an expert guide. And then, it’s time to indulge - enjoy as many freshly shucked Flaggy Shore oysters as you like, paired with a glass of delicious white wine.

The experience unfolds in the vibrant red building right behind Linnane’s Lobster Bar, so after your oyster experience you can make the short walk to Linnane’s Lobster Bar and enjoy lunch cooked by head chef Alec Foster who has created a menu brimming with local seafood.
