Two hospitalised after violent incident at house in Donegal

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after two men were injured in a violent incident at a house in Co Donegal.

One man in his 20s was seriously injured and another in his 60s suffered less serious injuries during an assault at a house on the Coneyburrow Road in Lifford at around 10am on Monday.

The younger man was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, for treatment. The second man was brought by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital.

The house has been cordoned off by gardaí.

Eyewitnesses confirmed emergency services, including ambulance personnel and gardaí, attended the scene.

It is understood the men – a father and son – were set upon by a gang of up to five men wielding iron bars.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“Any persons who may have camera footage (including dashcam) from Coneyburrow Road, Lifford, between 10am and 11am, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí,” a spokesperson said.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda station on 074 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
