This landscape view of Pozzuoli near Naples by Thomas Miles Richardson (1813-1890) is one of 50 pictures included in an exhibition which opens to the public next Friday at the National Gallery of Ireland. The self-explanatory 200 Years of Watercolours offers a chance to see a number of little-known examples by Irish, British and continental artists in the gallery's permanent collection. The show charts the development of the watercolour over the past two centuries and comes with an illustrated booklet (£3) written by curator Adrian Le Harivel and Macushla Goacher. The exhibition runs until December 8th.
