ONE of Dublin's best known antique dealers, Chantal O'Sullivan, last week officially opened a new shop in New York, at 51 East 10th Street. Ms O Sullivan has been working in the trade for the past 15 ears with her own substantial premises on Dublin's Francis Street since the early 1990s. Her new outlet which will specialise in Irish furniture and fine art, is managed by John Clarke, who will also be familiar to dealers and collectors here.
Successfully trading for the past two months the New York shop an impressive list of guests to its opening night party, such as supermodel Helena Christensen and Bon Jovi's Tico Torres. Local celebrities present included the New York Post's social correspondent Richard Johnson, Tara and Michael Rockefeller President of HBO Michael Fuchs and decorators Eric Javits Jr, Tom Britt, Geoffrey Bradfield and Robert J. Robinson.
A number of Chantal O Sullivan's Irish also travelled over for the occasion, not least U2 manager Paul McGuinness, Ali Hewson, Tony and Rosalind Kilduff, Radius Television's Bill Hughes, Eileen Murphy and singer Gavin Friday.
