Louise Holdenintroduces the senior winners of our competition to find the journalists of the future.
This year's SchoolMag competition drew out some impressive talent, and if you're lucky enough to get your hands on a copy of the senior winning magazine, Coláiste Oiriall's 50/50, you'll get a feel for the excitement generated around the judging-room table.
The magazine is all energy, originality and style. Every element is first-rate, from the format (individual folded pages, tied up in a package with ribbon) and the colour scheme (pink and black throughout) to the content (the best example of a dual-language publication the jury has ever seen). This is the work of a bunch of very talented people - including Tómás Ó Huaine, who won a writing award - who know the meaning of teamwork. 50/50 throbs with life.
In the writing and creative categories, a number of strong contenders jostled for position. Enjoy this week's selection of the best work from SchoolMag 2007's senior category: there are some formidable writers and designers in our schools, just coiled to spring on to the Irish publishing scene.
