Next Tuesday evening at 6pm, Minister of State Liz O'Donnell will launch a fund-raising exhibition at the Taylor Gallery in Kildare Street. Organised to assist the work of the Irish Refugee Council, the show, which features the work of some of Ireland's best-known artists, is being mounted with the support of Taylor and Gilbeys of Ireland. Among the participating painters, photographers and sculptors are Sandra Bell (whose work is pictured right), Liam Belton, Pauline Bewick, Barrie Cooke, John Coen, Bill Doyle, Felim Egan, Sean McSweeney, Bernadette Madden, Janet Pierce and Simon O'Donnell. Also featured will be a special illustrated limited edition of a poem by Gerald Dawe, Quartz, produced with the collaboration of theatre designer Joe Vanek, and inspired by the experience of Dawe's great-grandmother, who herself arrived in Belfast as a refugee.
