THE Burren College of Art, the private, third-level college in Ballyvaughan, Co Clare, is now in its second year, offering a residential, two-year, certificate course to undergraduates, as well as semester courses for American students. It also throws' open its facilities to extra-mural students, with a series of short courses for art enthusiasts of all levels, beginning this month.

The popular illustrative painter, Barry Castle, will give a workshop from April 26th-28th, while the college's head of photography. Veronica Nicholson, will conduct an introduction to black-and-white landscape photography on the same weekend. For further information, tel: 065-77200.
