Private buyers were out in force at Mullens sale last Monday evening. A Dutch cylinder writing desk was one of the most expensive buys of the evening, fetching £8,000 under the hammer. The same figure was paid for a 19th century view of Cork Harbour by Clarkson Stanfield - A party of ten in a rowing boat having a farewell drink prior to embarking on the emigrant ship. A pair of hunting scenes by Eugene Pechaubes sold for £6,000 and a French kingwood vitrine cabinet made £5,000. £4,800 was paid for a Yamaha baby grand piano while a Victorian walnut credenza sold for £4,200.
