With Big Fat Dog, well-known stand-up Eddie Bannon makes a foray into scripted comedy and a world where Eddie is 12 years old and very busy making lists. There are lists of good words and good occupations and then there's the annual competition for Best Thing, which was won last year by the stick he uses to turn his bedroom light off before his drunken da lurches up the stairs.

There are moments of poignancy and some humour in Big Fat Dog, but Bannon never really convinces as a 12 year-old, either with his presentation or his script. Fine and dandy if the piece worked on another, purely comic level but Bannon never seems quite sure of his timing or his audience.
