Andrew Scott, best known as Moriarty in the TV series Sherlock, has just been announced as the voice of the Darkmouth audio books, tipped to be this year's biggest debut children's book series and written by fellow Dubliner Shane Hegarty, the former Irish Times arts editor.
According to his voiceover agent, Rabbit Vocal Management, Scott had a great time recording and reading the book and is looking forward to the next instalment in the series, which is due out in the summer.
Book one is a fast-paced, funny, edge-of-the-seat fantasy adventure, central to which is the relationship between anti-hero Finn and his dad, a famous Legend (monster) hunter. Published by HarperCollins Children's Books, Darkmouth is being launched on January 29th.
Bestselling author John Connolly, another former Irish Times journalist, reviews Darkmouth in The Irish Times on Saturday.
